What to study when designing programming languages
I hope not to be mistaken in posting this question here, I checked the F.A.Q. and I thought this could be fine.
Well, I have some experience in designing programming languages and tools like parsers, interpreters, compilers, but also formal tools, like BNF, automata etcetera.
Now, I want to experiment with new programming languages and methodologies, invent new languages, apply existing concept used in other fields to make languages "more smart" (for example, using ontologies in programming languages).
The problem is that I never found resources about this: I do not know if there is a community, a journal, a website or a research group in some university that tries to do this kind of things. I do not know about any person that does this as work and I feel that there are surely people that does this in the world, but I cannot reach them.
I do not even know if this kind of "programming language experimentation" has a name in the industry or the academy.
So, where to start? Which are the keywords? Who are the people? What are the papers?
Thanks!
