Trouble with Ubuntu 8.04 (the system reboot automatically)
this is my first question and i don`t have a large experience in ubuntu and i hope you could help me.
I`m working at a tech-shop and yesterday came a client with a laptop toshiba satellite with ubuntu 8.04
The problem is that when grub starts to load the operative system, the computer reboots. He said the laptop had Win Vista as system originally, but he decided to change to ubuntu and he had the laptop working ok for one year or more. But 5 months ago the laptop started to reboot self
I tried to boot from a cd and an usb with the same result, the laptop reboots. But here comes something that is very strange. When grub was loading, y press ESC and i got a menu with diferents linux kernels. I saw one with 386 y i choose that and surprise! The system load correctly and didn`t repot any error.
Then i reboot and the problem come back, the system was rebooting again. I did the interruption in the grub`s load and again i choose the option with 386 and the computer starts correctly again.
Someone got an idea what is happening? I´m really confused. If you could please answer in spanish, I´ll thank you. Have a nice day.
