Do i have to physically glue the " ` " button to the "CTRL" button so that "CTRL + ` " is executed with one press on the keyboard? [duplicate]

I found out in GEDIT there is "snippets" plugin
which can be used to insert things like
      a string
when pressed. so assigned a shortcut to it which is
 CTRL + `
but i want to avoid having to press "CTRL"... in other words
i want to avoid having to press 2 buttons at the same time.
what can i do?
is my only option to figure a way to glue the buttons together
physically ?
